Zone Manager Configuration

Zone Manager can be configured for operation on both small sites and large multi-project sites. It can be installed on a stand-alone desktop or laptop computer, or be installed on a network for multi-user access. Finally, for utmost convenience Zone Manager can be accessed via the internet as a fully hosted service.

Smaller configurations

Zone Manager is installed on a stand-alone desktop or laptop computer. Booking requests are submitted on paper forms or by email. The Logistics Manager or Planning Clerk enters bookings on the system and prints the diary for reviews. Contractor reports with delivery details and crane and hoist times can be printed or emailed.

Zone Manager can be installed on one or more PCs with one or more display system attached. This operates as described above but the display system makes the diary visible to all on site. The display system can be local (LAN) or remote (using broadband connection). More than one person can be given access to the system, each with their own login. No-shows, unplanned deliveries and actual delivery times against planned times can be recorded for feedback to contractors.

Larger configurations

By installing Zone Manager on a network all the benefits of the smaller system is retained with the added benefit of making Zone Manager available to all relevant personnel, such as project managers, and also external contractors if required. User logins control what each user can and cannot do.

The Gate Functionality allows real-time capture of movements on and off site.

Zone Manager can handle multi-project sites where project managers can access their own projects only.

Zone Manager can be web based for easy access wherever the user is. Contractors can make booking requests or, if permitted, directly make their own bookings via the Internet. They have access to the project diary and and can see when deliveries arrive. Other features facilitated by the web access allow for the operation at remote gates, holding areas and any remote location.

Hosted service

A fully featured Zone Manager can be operated entirely through the internet as a hosted service. This way no software needs to be installed, maintenance and support issues are solved at a stroke - all you need is broadband access and you can be up and running in days. In many organisations the installation of new software is subject to extensive security checks and compliance issues, in some cases involving an outsourced IT provider. Database management and backup routines have to be considered. All this can be avoided using the hosted service - saving time and increasing flexibility.

Features and benefits of the hosted service:

  • Access all Zone Manager features without any software installation
  • Administrators get access to the full administrative system
  • Trade contractors use the Zone Manager website
  • Available to anyone with internet access using a standard browser
  • Through the use of tunnelling technology it is often unnecessary even to change firewall settings
  • The servers are located in highly secure server farms
  • Scaling up the system or improving access speed can be done more or less overnight by adding bandwidth or switching server in the farm

The hosted service is available on a monthly basis. It is possible to have a web-based operation up and running within days, making it viable and cost effective to use the full Zone Manager capabilities even for short term projects.
